I believe that AI is on track to replacing skills such as analysis and writing. As said in the reading, you can ask the AI to find 15 women that played a role in the American Revolution. Not only will the AI find 15 women that were important to the American Revolution, it'll also give reasons to why the two are connected. To get these results, the AI has to analyze a lot of information and draw it's conclusions. It can do it much more efficiently than humans could. As AI advances, it'll only get better and better, leaving human skills like analysis and writing behind.
I believe that Shylock is evil. I believe that Shy lock isn't necessarily an absolute evil but good would definitely not be one of the words I would use to describe him. Although he has been a victim to many, that doesn't make his behaviour excusable. He's greedy and refuses to show any mercy. For example, when Antonio was put on trial, Shylock refused the compensation money and was dead set on getting the pound of flesh from Antonio. I believe that this and other instances combined are enough to put him on the evil side rather than the good side. An example of a marginalised group of people is prisoners. Prisoners often have a tougher time when they get out due to discrimination. They also often have a disadvantage compared to people who have been to prison. For example, many companies would be more reluctant to hire an ex-convict. The disadvantages don't only apply to employment. Another example is friendships; it becomes significantly harder to make connections and build relationships with others when they find out that you were a prisoner. Friends and family may also turn away from you. The people who discriminate against them are often people who haven't been to prison and haven't committed any serious crimes. Photo essays and and the usual essays have different strength and are best used in different situations. Photo essays are better at showing the effects and consequences of certain actions. For example, showing a before and after photo in a photo essay about pollution will be but more hard hitting that writing about the before and after in an essay. The usual essays are much better at explaining and conveying thoughts and facts. A photo essay would go less in depth into a certain topic such as science as photos essays are often less detailed since the photos do most of the explaining.
I believe that it isn't the photojournalists job to help everyone and everything they take a photo of. I believe he did the right thing which was scaring off the bird, it was the least he could do. I don't think it was right for him to not help the child but I also think it was wrong either. Sure, it would've been nicer if he did but we wasn't instructed to. His specific instructions were to not interfere and that's what he did. He was responsible for capturing the the story. He isn't responsible for what happens before or after the picture is taken. I believe it is unreasonable for him to be held accountable for something that isn't his responsibility.
The bystanders in these 2 videos reacted very differently to the 2 groups of kids. They were much more lenient with the group of white kids. When they saw the black kids vandalizing the car they were very quick to call the police as soon as they saw them. I believe they did this because the had this stereotype that black people are more dangerous while white people aren't as dangerous. These stereotypes heavily effected their actions, as shown in the videos. They joked around with the white kids while instantly calling the police when they see the black kids doing the same thing.
I believe that the majority of the time an apology won't be enough. Instead of saying sorry, you should do something to show that you're sorry. Fix the mistakes that you have made and show the people that you're apologizing to, that you're sincere. The Toronto police chief's apology means nothing unless he does something about the problem at hand. The person that's been wronged is the one to decide if the apology was enough or not. Many people dismissed the chief's apology. The same happened with the Pope's apology. Many were unsatisfied with his words and wanted more. Both these apologies maybe valuable to some and not to others.
The police are often not charged with criminal charges as prosecutors depend on them for investigations and other similar situations. Due to this, prosecutors will often be far more lenient on cops than they would the average citizen. I find this to be extremely unfair since I believe that the police shouldn't be let off the hook simply because they help enforce the laws. If they enforce the laws, they should be accepting the punishment of breaking it. Unfortunately, this is not the case in many situations. An example of one of these cases is the Sacramento Case. The police supposedly had bribed the prosecutors through the use of "donations". Not only is this unjust, it can also be considered inhumane.
I believe that art is the product of human imagination. We use our creativity to create something to help us display and express our emotions. I think it's what makes us humans unique, it's also a great way to pass time. I think that creativity is our ability to use what we've seen and learned around us to create something new. Although AI is able to do that, it's unable to put emotion into it and therefore isn't creative. |
